Heart of Gold

Book 2 of the Macpherson Brothers Trilogy

From the wild shores of the Scotland's Western Isles to the bloody fields of France to the glittering courts of Europe, the Macpherson Trilogy follows a family's fight for Scottish independence against the Tudor king, Henry VIII.

RITE OF PASSION

Elizabeth Boleyn has been ordered to yield to a lecherous king what she most prizes--her innocence. Now, at the tournament of two kings, her beauty has attracted not only the eyes of Henry Tudor, but those of the handsome Scottish warrior, Ambrose Macpherson, whose bold offer to bed her might be her only salvation...

QUEST OF LOVE
Ambrose Macpherson feels desire for the exquisite daughter of the English diplomat. That the hated English king is pursuing her makes Elizabeth an even greater prize, engulfing Ambrose's very soul with fire and fury. But suddenly, after witnessing an act of treachery that could topple the crown, Elizabeth has vanished. Ambrose knows that fate will allow him no rest until he finds the only woman he has ever loved…

After reading Philippa Gregory books, I ran across this story about a third Boleyn girl. She was feisty, artistic, a true renaissance woman. She spends years running from her estranged father, and King Henry VIII, and a murderer who knows she witnessed him killing someone. A good story I had a hard time putting down. - Amazon Reader Review

I am truly in love with May McGoldrick novels right now. I have read eight in the last three months starting with the Angel of Skye in the MacPherson Clan Series. Each novel is a stand alone but I think it would be helpful to read them in order because so many of her characters are woven into other stories in the series. I get so caught up in the stories that I think about the characters even when I have to put the book down. They have made me laugh and cry. Truly the mark of a great book. The stories are not cookie cutter and I like that the heroes and heroines in her books admit their love for each other and then have to work together to conquer the villains. - Amazon Reader Review

The Beauty of the Mist

Book 3 of the Macpherson Brothers Trilogy

CRUEL BETROTHAL
Maria had been forced to marry at seventeen, then was left widowed shortly thereafter. Now, five years later, her brother had chosen another husband for her, sight unseen—the boy king of Scotland. Maria, who had never known passion or love, refused to submit, vowing to flee to freedom. But the ship she chose went down in the gathering fog, leaving the dark-haired beauty at the mercy of wind and tide, and headed for a shattering destiny…

STOLEN LOVE
For it was none other than Highland clan chief John Macpherson, journeying to bring home his young king’s intended bride, who rescued the beautiful Maria adrift at sea. Almost from the moment they met, an attraction ignited between them—a spark that grew to flaming desire and then to all-consuming, yet forbidden passion. Maria savored these few stolen days, aware their love could never last once her proud Highlander discovered her true identity. Maria knew that while following her heart might free her, it would take her beloved’s life…

This book is a pure fairytale, from the characters to the plot, and it is really beautiful and enjoyable. It is entertaining, the dialog is really thoughtful, and there are enough plot twists to keep you riveted to the very last page. I have re-read it a few times now over the years, and its one of my favorites. - Amazon Reader Review

This is another hit! This is another beautiful story interwoven with elements of reality and fantasy. Maria’s character undergoes a huge transformation in the story. She goes from a quiet, malleable person to one who takes charge and makes her own decisions. The love story between Maria and John is passionate and sweet at the same time. Cannot get enough of the MacPherson family! - Amazon Reader Review

Good history and great characters make for enchanting romances! All three novels were entrancing. This was an outstanding Scottish romance! 10 Stars!!!! I absolutely loved this book. It has everything you’ve ever wanted in a gothic romance - mystery, suspense, hidden passageways, hidden damsels in distress, ancient rituals, danger, an awesome hero, a smart heroine, realistic and humorous dialogue, well-developed plot & characters. This is excellent. Buy this book - it’s just wonderful. This is the best I’ve read yet from May McGoldrick. - Amazon Reader Review

LOVED IT! This is a really good read. It is filled with mystery, . Intrigue, adventure and try romance. I loved both the h/h as well as the secondary characters, especially Athol. It was not your typical highland romance novel, but nonetheless, it was really good because it was a romance/whodunit type novel. I would definitely recommend this book , buy it. I can’t w as it to read Athol’s story, I know it will be great as well. - Amazon Reader Review

RWA RITA Award Finalist for Best Historical Romance Novel

Such a lovely sweet love story . This is a book for just about any age group.
There wasn’t one sex scene in this story. However, it was loaded with innocent passion.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who adores romance; especially highland romance. I am a huge fan of highland romance. I am always digging for good reads in this genre.
The only reason this book received four stars instead of five is because the ending left me with a few questions and ended to abruptly. I wanted more ! Lol.
Seriously though, grab a copy. You will not be disappointed. Even if you need high heat in your books, I promise you will enjoy this one. - Amazon Reader Review

A DELIGHTFUL READ! What a delightful romance — wish it were longer because I couldn’t put it down. It was so refreshing to read a romance that doesn’t rely on graphic sex to supposedly generate a romantic relationship. Well written, well paced, with evocative descriptions, hilarious narrative banter among the characters along with surprising plot situations and interesting human responses. Just what a good novel ought to be. I think I’ve found another favorite author. - Amazon Reader Review

AN ABSOLUTE TREASURE! I absolutely love this book. I just finished reading it for the second time; although I can’t say why I didn’t review it the first time around. The Enchantress

Book 2 of the highland treasure trilogy

Beginning with The Dreamer, May McGoldrick’s Highland Treasure Trilogy captures the lives and loves of three Scottish sisters.

Now meet Laura…the Enchantress.

The three Percy sisters hold the secret to a long-lost treasure, coveted by the Lord Deputy of England. Each sister escapes England via a different route.

Fleeing persecution from the English king, level-headed Laura took shelter in the Highlands of Scotland. But when she found herself abducted by the fearsome Laird of Blackfearn, all her well-made plans were torn asunder. His reckless and wild ways left Laura burning in his wake - and awakened in her a passion as untamed as his own….

GREAT STORY... Introduced to this author when I got her Scottish Starter set of three novels. The Dreamer was one of them. I got so wrapped up in the story of the Percy sisters in the Highlands, I had to purchase The Enchantress to continue the saga of their family. The interaction between Laura Percy and William Ross made me anxious, angry, and then chuckling! Going to buy The Firebrand to finish this series. - Amazon Reader Review

ANOTHER FANTASTIC NOVEL!! I read the first book in this trilogy, and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint! I heartily recommend this book and the others in the series! - Amazon Reader Review

The Firebrand

Book 3 of the Highland treasure trilogy

Beginning with The Dreamer and continuing with The Enchantress, May McGoldrick’s Highland Treasure Trilogy captures the lives and loves of three Scottish sisters. Now, in the exciting conclusion, meet Adrianne…The Firebrand…a woman without compromise or inhibitions….

Thrust into the arms of the man who wants more than her heart...

Adrianne Percy was hidden in the Western Isles, safe from her family’s enemies – until her sisters sent a notorious pirate to return her to the Highlands. But when she hatches a plan to free her kidnapped mother, it requires her to marry the handsome rogue – and what begins as a simple matter of business quickly flares into an uncontrollable desire…

It takes a pirate to tame a pirate!

This last book in the Highland Treasure Trilogy was fabulous. Each Percy sister has different characters adding so much to each story. Adrianne had me laughing out loud several times with her boldness and determination. Definitely met her match with Wyntoun MacLean. There is also the mystery surrounding the Treasure of Tiberius. I like the way the author takes the true facts from history to develop her characters. - Amazon Reader Review

ALL POINTS COVERED! 1. likable hero and heroine; 2. great supporting characters; 3. great plot; 4. interesting, well described setting; 5. dialog witty, in keeping with period; 6. Je n’sais quoi ( I don’t know what - that special something that keeps you interested). These three books cover all 6 points, and get 6/5 rating from me. I’ll read books through that are 5/5, but I live in, and usually read in one night, the 6/5s. May McGoldrick’s The Dreamer,The Enchantress, The Firebrand—all set in 1535 Scotland/England—are addictive. - Amazon Reader Review

FIVE STARS! The acknowledgements of this book read: “To begin, we’d like to thank William Shakespeare for deciding to become a writer rather than pursuing a lucrative career in glove making. We’re certain his father went to his grave happy that Will had something to fall back on.” This pretty much just sets the tone for a wonderfully fun spoof on a classic tale. I cannot wait for the next two in the series, also Shakespeare-meets-Highlander plots! - Amazon Reader Review

LOVED IT! This was a wonderful story filled with interesting characters and Highland magic and I loved every minute of it! Alexander was such a fun hero with a wicked sense of humor and I enjoyed the sparring between Kenna and him. I found the tale of the stones and their power interesting and can’t wait to read the next book in the series. The romance between Alexander’s brother James and Kenna’s cousin Emily was a delightful bonus. This is one romance that I highly recommend. - Amazon Reader Review

Loved it!! This second book in The Scottish Relic Trilogy was better than the first! I suggest reading book one...it is helpful to know what transpired previously. I loved Innes and Conall both together and separately. I felt as though this story had a lot of strength to it. The characters will get under your skin and pull at your heartstrings. I loved how the plot took many twists and turns with secrets revealed at various points. I was riveted right from the start and couldn’t put it down. I am eager to get my hands on book three. - Amazon Reader Review

Another wonderful story in the Scottish Relic Trilogy. I cannot get enough of this series. There is so much excitement and thrill in each book. The female characters are strong, willful women who have been entrusted with a special gift that could get them killed. Innes and Conall suited each other very well. They were both reclusive, introverted individuals. Once they found each other they were able to come out of their shell and unleash their passion. I have already pre-ordered the last book of the series. Cannot wait to see all three ladies with their special gifts finally confront their enemy. - Amazon Reader Review

Join in on this medieval Highland spoof of Arsenic and Old Lace… CHARGE!!

Laugh out loud hilarious!! OMG! I’ve never written reviews before, but this has got to be my favorite book ever! Can’t say favorite historical romance because it’s also a romantic comedy or a screwball comedy straight from the 30’s or 40’s. I love the original “Arsenic and Old Lace” stage play and great Cary Grant movie. This lives up to those. I kept picturing Raymond Massey as Jack and most definitely Peter Lorre as “Cardinal” Bane. I actually pictured Carole Lombard as Marion and William Powell as Iain instead of the original actors from the movie. I had to bite my lip from laughing out loud while reading the book in a restaurant. I really enjoy McGoldrick, but this is my favorite! How did I miss this when it came out?!? - Amazon Reader Review
